The beauty of Kapuche Lake is praised by all, clean and pristine, with cold water that refreshes exhausted travelers. The Lake is a new trekking experience in Nepal, located at an altitude of 2450 meters.
Being the lowest glacier lake in Nepal, Kapuche isn’t just unique for this trait but also the origin of its name. The word “Kapuche” is a combination of Gurung words, namely “Ka” (snow or ice), “Pu” (breaking down and sliding), and
“Che” (landing on flat land).
The Kapuche Lake is settled at the source of the Madi River. From the Sikles village, an 8-hour uphill trek, laddering 12 kilometers, leads you to Kapuche.
Nestled at an altitude of 2,435 meters, this pristine lake lies at 28˚26’28” N and 84˚07’00” E, in the serene landscapes of Upper Madi, Parche VDC, Kaski District. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, it offers a sense of relaxation for the lovers of nature.
Keeping the trek aside, you can also submerge yourself into a Kapuche Lake Helicopter Tour, lasting roughly 1 and a half hours.

The Origin Of Kapuche
Kapuche was initially noticed in the Landsat imagery in 2001. As the years passed, this majestic lake grew in size significantly and the years 2015-2010 experienced the biggest and most drastic expansion in the coverage.

As hinted by the Gurung combination of words to name the Lake, Kapuche is a natural formation as a result of several snow/ice avalanches over more than 2 decades.
Recently, an avalanche that originated from the top of Mount Annapurna II (7937 m) and Lamjung Himal(6983 m) on the 9th of January 2021, deposited a huge water mass to the Lake
